FAQs
When you have to leave your dog for a day, a weekend, or more, it’s difficult to say the least. You need to know your dog is secure, happy, and well cared for.
We know you have lots of questions and we have tried to answer them here. If not, please contact us so we can provide the information you need to make the right decision for you and your dog.
- I just adopted my dog and he/she isn’t fixed yet, can he/she still come to Ivy Acres?
No, all dogs over 6 months must be spayed or neutered.
- If I have 2 dogs, do I get a price break?
Yes, there is a discount for 2 dog families!
- I’ve boarded my dog before & had to pay “extra” fees for things like walks, treats, and 1 on 1 time. Are there any hidden fees at Ivy Acres?
No, we believe that all the “extras” are a part of great dog care. Each dog gets lots of “extras” with each visit.
- What do I need to bring for my dog?
You only need to bring food in an airtight container. (No plastic bags) I advise people to bring more than they think they will need. Dogs here are so well exercised sometimes their appetites increase, & sometimes delays happen in owners schedules.
- My dog hasn’t been around kids (or other dogs) will he be allowed in?
We would need to evaluate your dog during a consultation to determine that.
- I want to board my dog for the first time tomorrow, can we skip the consultation?
No, it is important that we meet every dog before staying at Ivy Acres. We must ensure safety of all our dogs & people here.
- My dog takes medicine for….. Will you be able to give him medicine in my absence?
Yes, that is all included.
- My dog is aggressive to other dogs; can he be boarded at Ivy Acres?
No, we do not have facilities to take aggressive dogs.
- My dog has a favorite bed, may we bring it?
Yes, you may feel free to bring beds, special toys or treats is you desire. We supply all those things if you prefer not to.
- My dog is used to wearing a choke collar all day, may he wear it there?
No, choke collars are dangerous when playing with other dogs. All dogs must be in a buckle only collar to reduce the risk of being strangled.
- My dog is shy & nervous, I’m not sure he will play with the other dogs?
We let each dog go at his or her own pace. We will provide time and encouragement but it is ultimately up to each dog.
- My dog loves to take naps during the day. Is he free to nap at will there?
Yes, dogs may nap whenever they are tired. We have a schedule of fun events throughout the day, but at any time dogs may opt out and nap on our many different beds.
