Ivy Acres Vizsla Puppies Litter Whelped January 9, 2010
Welcome to Ivy Acres Vizslas! We are conscientious breeders who are in love with the vizsla breed. We breed for sound temperament, above average intelligence and conformation to the Vizsla standards.
Vizslas are a very versatile breed that fit nicely into agility, rally, flyball, hunting, conformation, or obedience programs. Keeping the Vizsla breed true to type with all their wonderful traits and characteristics that have distinguished them for centuries will allow future generations get to know and love this wonderful breed.
The Vizsla is a companion dog who fills the role of protector, hunter, athlete, companion and friend. They deserve love, and respect in their households. They will not tolerate rough treatment or neglect well. The Vizsla has high intelligence, good reasoning powers and an excellent memory. They have been called the, “Velcro” dog because of their desire for constant companionship. If you aren’t prepared to spend a lot of time with your dog, please do not get a Vizsla. They simply aren’t good left alone for long periods of time. This craving for affection and their high energy levels are probably the two biggest traits to this breed. These traits will either endure vizslas to you, or help you to decide that a vizsla may not be the breed for you.
Vizslas are a very clean dog. They have no undercoat, they dry rapidly and rarely posses any doggy odor when wet. They shed very little and their fur is very short and harder to notice than many other breeds.
Dogs are an investment. The life span of a quality vizsla is likely to be around 15 years. We realize purchasing a purebred puppy is costly. We believe the, “Pay me now, or pay me later” quote comes into play here. Training problems with dogs of low intelligence or unsound temperament dogs can be very expensive to correct if it can be done at all. Excessive vet bills sometimes come with that “free” puppy that could have been avoided if care had been taken to study pedigrees & do appropriate genetic tests on the parents.
